Home / Flooring Guides / PVC Flooring for Schools & Kindergartens
School floors take a beating that residential floors never see: hundreds of pairs of scuffed shoes, dropped food in canteens, trolleys in corridors and classrooms that are cleaned with mops and chemicals every single day. Homogeneous PVC sheet is built for exactly this — the colour runs through the full thickness, so a scuff never shows a contrasting layer, and the sealed surface has no grout lines where dirt can collect.
Before choosing a floor, it helps to be clear about the three pressures a school puts on it.
Corridors, canteens and classroom aisles see constant traffic. Homogeneous sheet is coloured through the full thickness, so scratches and scuffs stay the same shade as the surface instead of exposing a white backing layer. In the busiest zones, a 3.0 mm sheet simply lasts longer before the surface shows wear.
Kindergartens and canteens demand surfaces that clean quickly. A non-porous PVC surface with hot-welded seams means there are no grout lines for food, dirt or germs to hide in — a clear advantage over tile, which needs regular re-grouting to stay hygienic.
Slip resistance matters in schools, especially near entrances, toilets and canteens. Our sheet is rated slip class R9–R10, and anti-slip stair nosing protects the steps and ramps where falls most often happen.
The table below shows how the two most common homogeneous specifications perform in a school environment.
| Specification | Best for | Wear & safety | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2.0 mm homogeneous sheet | Classrooms, offices, libraries and other normal-traffic rooms | Wear class T, slip R9, fire B1 | Mop or scrub clean; no sealing or polishing |
| 3.0 mm homogeneous sheet | Corridors, canteens, stair landings and entrance zones | Same wear class with a thicker wear layer for a longer surface life | Same as 2.0 mm; welds keep seams sealed |
A school floor is a complete system: the sheet, the wall junction and the stair edges all need to work together.
Through-color sheet in 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 mm, 2.0 m wide rolls, UV/PU coated and anti-bacterial. The core of every school specification.

Fully glued installation with hot-welded seams gives one continuous, waterproof surface. At wall junctions, a coved floor-to-wall curve stops dirt collecting in the corner and makes mopping straightforward.
Skirting, cove former and stair nosing in the same colour family as the sheet make the room look planned rather than patched — and they come from the same supplier, so shades match on delivery.
School projects often go to tender. ISO 9001, FloorScore and ISO 9001/14001 certificates plus the technical datasheet are included with every JINXUAN school project — request them with the quote, not after.
