PVC Flooring for Schools & Kindergartens

School floors take a beating that residential floors never see: hundreds of pairs of scuffed shoes, dropped food in canteens, trolleys in corridors and classrooms that are cleaned with mops and chemicals every single day. Homogeneous PVC sheet is built for exactly this — the colour runs through the full thickness, so a scuff never shows a contrasting layer, and the sealed surface has no grout lines where dirt can collect.

JINXUAN homogeneous sheet flooring in a Vietnamese school reception and corridor area

Project reference. A Vietnamese international school installed 2,800 m² of 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm homogeneous sheet across corridors, reception, classrooms and stair landings, with anti-slip stair nosing on every step and skirting in a matching colour family. Installed 2024.

What Makes School Flooring Different

Before choosing a floor, it helps to be clear about the three pressures a school puts on it.

Heavy footfall and scuffed shoes

Corridors, canteens and classroom aisles see constant traffic. Homogeneous sheet is coloured through the full thickness, so scratches and scuffs stay the same shade as the surface instead of exposing a white backing layer. In the busiest zones, a 3.0 mm sheet simply lasts longer before the surface shows wear.

Hygiene without grout lines

Kindergartens and canteens demand surfaces that clean quickly. A non-porous PVC surface with hot-welded seams means there are no grout lines for food, dirt or germs to hide in — a clear advantage over tile, which needs regular re-grouting to stay hygienic.

Safety on stairs and wet floors

Slip resistance matters in schools, especially near entrances, toilets and canteens. Our sheet is rated slip class R9–R10, and anti-slip stair nosing protects the steps and ramps where falls most often happen.

Compare Flooring Options for Schools

The table below shows how the two most common homogeneous specifications perform in a school environment.

SpecificationBest forWear & safetyMaintenance
2.0 mm homogeneous sheetClassrooms, offices, libraries and other normal-traffic roomsWear class T, slip R9, fire B1Mop or scrub clean; no sealing or polishing
3.0 mm homogeneous sheetCorridors, canteens, stair landings and entrance zonesSame wear class with a thicker wear layer for a longer surface lifeSame as 2.0 mm; welds keep seams sealed
Rule of thumb: specify 2.0 mm everywhere, then step up to 3.0 mm in the corridors, canteen and entrance. Both grades are UV/PU coated, anti-bacterial and fire rated B1 (Class 1), with slip class R9–R10.

Three Notes for School Flooring Planning

Weld the seams, cove the corners

Fully glued installation with hot-welded seams gives one continuous, waterproof surface. At wall junctions, a coved floor-to-wall curve stops dirt collecting in the corner and makes mopping straightforward.

Match accessories in one colour family

Skirting, cove former and stair nosing in the same colour family as the sheet make the room look planned rather than patched — and they come from the same supplier, so shades match on delivery.

Ask for the certification pack early

School projects often go to tender. ISO 9001, FloorScore and ISO 9001/14001 certificates plus the technical datasheet are included with every JINXUAN school project — request them with the quote, not after.

FAQ

Is PVC flooring safe for children?

Yes. Our homogeneous sheets are phthalate-free and low-VOC, carry FloorScore certification, and meet fire class B1 (Class 1). The surface is warmer underfoot and softer than tile, which reduces injuries from falls.

Can it withstand canteen and corridor traffic?

Homogeneous sheet in wear class T (EN 660-2) is designed for heavy commercial traffic. Through-color construction keeps scuffs invisible, and 3.0 mm sheet gives the longest surface life in the busiest zones.

How is it installed in classrooms?

Fully glued with hot-welded seams for a seamless, waterproof surface, plus skirting and cove former at wall junctions. Installation takes days, not weeks, and rooms can be walked on shortly after.

What slip resistance does it have?

The sheet is rated slip class R9–R10. For stairs and ramps we recommend anti-slip PVC stair nosing, which adds an extra grip edge where falls most often happen.

Do you supply for school tenders?

Yes. We provide ISO 9001, FloorScore and ISO 9001/14001 certificates plus technical datasheets that school procurement teams require, and we support custom colours and specifications for larger projects.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

MOQ is one roll (500 sqm) of sheet, or 500–1000 m of accessories depending on type. Standard lead time is 15–20 days after order confirmation, plus shipping time to your port.
